General Responsibilities and Skill Requirements Assembling or disassembling pallet, modular, or other racking storage systems.
Operating scissor lifts and pallet jacks.
Effectively use hand and power tools.
Following instructions from construction project managers and travel installers.
Stacking and unstacking building materials.
Cleaning the construction site by removing hazardous materials and debris from the worksite.
Assisting craft workers such as carpenters, welders, and travel installers with their duties, if needed.
Stand and remain active for up to 9 hours.
Work in both hot and cold climates.
Repeatedly lift objects up to 60 lbs.
Follow all health and safety regulations.
Work effectively in teams.
Arrive to work on time and ready to work.
Complete any other tasks the project may require Qualifications and Skills Experience for a Local installer is usually acquired directly through working with more experienced professionals in the field as an assistant.
There are no particular years of experience needed for this position, although any apprenticeships and previous construction work is a definite plus.
Some general qualification and skill requirements can be found below:
No formal qualification is required, although a high school diploma may be preferred.
Similar work experience may be beneficial.
Willingness to undertake training.
Be mild-tempered and a team player.
Basic math skills for measuring and maintaining correct count.
Basic mechanical skills to use machinery, equipment, and tools used regularly on construction sites.
Physical strength when performing heavy labor such as lifting materials.
Physical ability to reach and perform tasks required of the job.
Physical stamina to handle the long hours of performing strenuous work during the day in hot or cold weather.
Consistency in conduct, attendance, and attitude.
