Reporting to the Annual Fund Director, the Assistant Annual Fund Director will play a crucial role in increasing alumni giving and expanding the base of support to the Foundation in support of Shippensburg University.
Through innovative direct marketing, digital outreach strategies, and personalized fundraising efforts, the Assistant Annual Fund Director will contribute to the Foundation's mission of supporting a nationally recognized, regional public university.
Responsibilities:
Phonathon:
Lead the recruitment, training, management, and evaluation of paid student phonathon callers and managers.
Oversee the implementation of the phonathon, including developing nightly calling plans and strategies for increased engagement.
Track and analyze phonathon campaign progress on a nightly, weekly, and monthly basis, along with other annual fund programs.
Engage students through the SU Student Foundation by recruiting students and planning initiatives to foster philanthropy among the student body.
Develop and manage the Young Alumni Giving Program to cultivate support from recent graduates.
Participate in Senior Sendoff events to engage graduating students and encourage their involvement in alumni engagement activities.
Assist in organizing and executing personal solicitation campaigns, direct mail appeals, crowdfunding, and promoting Giving Days such as ShipGives and Giving Tuesday.
Collaborate with the Annual Fund Director to recruit volunteers for various initiatives.
Create compelling written and digital materials to support fundraising efforts.
Contribute to the development of annual objectives, action plans, budgets, program evaluations, and written reports.
Attend Shippensburg University and community functions and activities, including evenings and weekends, as part of job responsibilities.
Stay current with best practices in fundraising.
Qualifications:
Energetic and effective communicator, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in writing, direct mail processes, and familiarity with current postal regulations.
Expertise in Microsoft Office and donor relational database programs, such as Raiser's Edge, is a plus.
Ability to ask for contributions effectively and to manage, develop, motivate, and mentor phonathon students.
Openness to new ideas and adaptability to changing situations.
Ability to represent the SU Foundation to diverse individuals and groups internal and external of the university.
Strong multitasking skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business administration, public relations, or related field required.
Two to three years of experience in fundraising, non-profit, or related field preferred.
Experience in marketing/sales, public relations, or alumni affairs is advantageous.
Regional travel and periodic evening and weekend availability are required.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation necessary.
